Any orthidontal work will not affect a pregnancy.  How could metal in your mouth affect a baby?

The braces in themselves will have no effect on the fetus.  However, if there are medications that are used when you are going through a procedure on your braces (like anesthetics), i  would not be advisable.  You need to speak with an OB/GYM specialist, as well as warn your dentist/orthodontist that you are pregnat.  X-rays are also a danger you need to be aware o as well.

i dont see anything wrong with having braces when you're pregnant.

A lot of people have them. You can't control if you get pregnant with braces on (and some people just want to have them while pregnant because it is convenient). If you are worried ask your orthodontist.
