We have some missing window screens in our new house. Being in Minnesota we have mosquitoes and need to keep the windows covered. Just thinking it would be real easy to just staple the screen on to the windows. But is that a fire hazard or something like that?

  1. It could potentially be a hazard to escape from the home, in the event of a fire.

Building codes call for 2 unobstructed exits out of a room.

You can get new screen frame 'kits' at most hardware stores.  You cut them to fit (hacksaw), and assemble them.  Theyre not expensive.  I'd do that.

  2. You can not do that if they are steel or aluminum frames.  If wood OK.

  3. Why not just buy new screens.  It will cost a little more, but look soooo much nicer.

  4. ya its okay u can leave it till u save money and buy a new screens(:

  5. if you have some means of getting out of those rooms then stapling might be OK but what about cleaning your windows

a couple staples that could be easily removed would be OK temporarily

  6. The chances of being unable to escape through the window in the event of an emergency with the screen is highly unlikely whether is stapled without a frame or installed with a frame.

It's going to look horrible but if $ is an issue than you got to do what you got to do.
