Is it okay to keep one male, and two female hamsters in the same room?

All in separate cages of course. I already have a male, and I fell in love with two female hamsters at the petstore yesterday.

One was a really big one that wasnt getting sold, and the other a hairless hamster. I really want them both but if I wash my hands inbetween handling them, is it safe, or okay? They're all syrians.

  1. Yes that seems fine, although do not keep the cages very close together. Rodents' sense of smell is amazing, when the two females come on heat the male will be able to sence this and will become extremely frustrated.

  2. i dont thik so it is good but some times it is good but we always keep rodent animal in pair

  3. Of course!

I'm glad you're taking a liking to the less cliche hamsters.  They all need a good home and you sound like one to me.  ^^

I had many, many hamsters and pets.  For the first while, it'd be a good idea to wash your hands in between petting different hamsters, but after awhile (a few months when you know neither of them are sick), you can die down on that if you chose.  I had two teddy bear hamsters, two gerbils, an orphaned field mouse, and a dwarf hamster I hung out with and didn't wash my hands in between playing with them when I was younger and they were all okay.

  4. yes that's perfectly fine

  5. Yes, that's fine.

Just make sure they all have separate cages.

If you don't wash your hands in between, they'll be curious about the smell of the other hamster.

I've always wanted a hairless hamster.

    :-)

  6. Yes thats fine, as long as the 2 females aren't in the same ccage then yes, but i wouldn't let them out together, espeacilly the male with the famles ;).
