Is it okay to leave your TV on constantly?

TV's audio and picture goes in and out and does better if kept on continuously.

  1. No, it doesn't. Plus, if you leave it on all day when you're not even watching it, you waste unnecessary energy and that's just bad. Do you cable? You should check the connection and then contact your provider. Usually if you call up the cable company they can tell you how to fix it over the phone if its a minor problem.


  2. This answer assumes you have an older style picture tube TV set. ---If you have a Plasma or LCD or Rear Projection TV...Turn it OFF when not in use.

    If your TVs  picture and audio go in and out after the TV is turned on I suspect a problem with the high voltage circuit in the TV set.  This stabilizes after it is on for a time.

    An old style TV set is just like a CRT computer monitor (same basic technology). It can be left on ...assuming that it does not overheat.

    Now with the problem you are describing the TV will go out at some time when the power supply circuit fails.  Leaving it on may/or may not hasten its failure.

    It will of course use more electricity if left on, but the amount is   not that much.  

    I suggest you try leaving it on for a day and see what happens. Use that as a guide for what to do.
