Okay I was an idiot and bought pine bedding for my mice and I just read about how is causes breathing problems and such...

So I ripped out the pine as soon as possible and put in a Pillow case to serve as a temporary bedding. It was also a red and purple pillow case do you think that might upset them or have any other problems?

  1. Like said, Paper towels will work. I wouldn't be worried about them swallowing the fabric.. But they will chew holes in it and make it fray. Which they can damage claws in and get heads stuck. =/

  2. Actually you'd be better off with shredded paper, carefresh, or aspen bedding--you're right about the pine (and cedar) being irritating to their lungs.

The problem with fabric is usually that threads will get wound around something (a foot, usually) and cut off the circulation if they can't get it off.  Especially risky if there are babies.

If you need something temporary to tide you through, ripped up paper towels are your best bet.  I shred my mail and use that as well.

  3. No because if your mouse thinks it food , he`ll eat it and die!

  4. The pine would have been safer.  They can tear up the pillow case and eat it and won't be able to digest it.  Or it could get tangled around them and cause more problems.  The safest thing to do would be to shred toilet paper or paper towels instead.  Just make sure it is not colored or scented.
