Question:

Is it okay to put my red slider turtle with my other fishes?

i have 3 parrot fish i is about 6 in and 2 are about 2 1/2 in and three cichlid and 'm not sure about the last one and i believe the tank is a 40 gallon and the turtle is about 2 in so can i put him in the tank

  1. in my opinion I wouldn't really recommend it.  the 2 inch fish you are talking about may be chewed on  or maybe compleatley eaten,  the larger ones could be bitten. red eared sliders get much bigger so  he will most likely try to eat them  sooner or later, not to mention your redeared slider is young "as you said he is 2 inches"  and they are interested in moving things such as fish, and love to eat them. especially when young. I hate to be so negitive but this to me is the most likley result.


  2. A regular fish tank is NOT an adequate tank for a baby turtle.  You need to get him his own tank with a proper basking area, heat lamp and UVB.  If you can't do this, find him a new home.  If you stick him into the fish tank with no way to get out to dry, he will get shell rot and other secondary infections.

  3. no dont do that u silly bugger the turtle will eat the fish lol
