Is it okay to put two different rats together?

Question

I bought one male rat from the humane society, so if I got another male from a pet store, do you think that they would be happy together? Or would they fight since they don't know each other?

If they get along it shouldnt be a problem. :)

Rats don't usually fight for territory. But be careful! You may THINK they are both boy rats, but telling the gender of a rat is extremely difficult and if you end up with one male and one female you won't know until the babies arrive!

You should put a divider up in the cage so they are in the same space, but can't touch...but can slowly get used to each other and each others smell. Males especially will typically fight if you just throw them in together. If you have two cages you could also put them back to back.

The male and male would fight, if you put a male and female together, it's a 80% chance they will get along
