I have one guinea pig in an 18 by 30 inch cage, but I am afraid she might be lonely, so I want to get her a friend, but bigger cages are so expensive. Would it be okay to add another guinea pig in this size cage?

  1. i think that is about the size i have for my two guinea pigs. but dont automatically put two guinea pigs who dont know each other in the same cage, it could be disasterous. try what i said for the other question

  2. Yes i have had three guinnia pigs and so i have much experience

  3. It would be smart to get a larger cage, I know they are expensive, but guinea pigs can get large and they will need some space. Be sure to get a female friend though, otherwise you'll

    need way more space.

  4. i think the cage is fine but you might find that if you put a new guinea pig in with your one you have at the moment they might fight.Unless they have grown up together this tends to happen if it does you will either have to seperate them so you would need a new cage for them anyway so they are seperate but this might not happen. More likily to happen if it is 2 male they tend to be very boisterous.

good luck with your guinea piggy x

  5. Nope, too small. Pet store cages are tiny and expensive. You can build a cheaper one that is ten times bigger by clicking on this website

  6. Guinea's do so much better when in pairs, and that size cage is plenty big enough, if you are going to keep it clean. Cavies have very sensitive resperatory systems. I have had about 40 piggies in my lifetime. They make wonderful pets, but can stink up a small cage rather quickly. Keep them clean and happy and you will be fine. Good luck.

  7. Here is an ideal size chart depending on the number of guineas...

According to the chart I would work on getting a bigger cage. If this isn't an option you are going to have to get them out more often so they can get adequate exercise until you can buy a bigger cage.
