If it is rewashed is it okay to reuse? Maybe I am crazy but I think it's disgusting to clean up dirty cat litter and reuse the rag even if it has been cleaned.

  1. If you are bleaching the rag to sanitize it after washing it, and then cooking it, technically it would probably be sanitary.

You need to cook the rag to kill toxoplasmosis, as the cysts are hardy enough to survive through bleach, cleaning supplies, freezing, and the usual ways we sanitize things.

Toxoplasmosis is the reason that pregnant women aren't even supposed to scoop the litter box.  Cats are the primary, and a very common, carrier of toxoplasmosis.  You can read about all the scary things toxo can do at wikipedia.  My cousin picked up Toxo in his barn when he was young.  He was lucky - he was only blind for a couple of weeks before they correctly diagnosed the problem and successfully treated it.

Having said that, would washing and cooking the rag then make it "okay" to use?  Yuck, not in my book!

  2. Toss it!

Or you could wash it with bleach and dub it the cat poo rag lol

  3. Just keep that rag for cat litter.

If you wash it, and bleach it, its fine, but I know what you mean.

  4. No your not crazy lol. I think you should only re-use the rag for litter box purposes only. It wouldn't really be sanitary to use it for anything else. Even if you do clean it.

  5. well you could clean it well i guess. but it is like having different cutting boards for different foods. what would you do in it wasn't cleaned ENOUGH on accident. i would reserve a special rag for the cat box

  6. NOOOOO! Better to be safe than sorry right? Throw that thing away right now. No seriously. Away. Away. Away. : )

  7. Use a toilet brush to scrub your litter boxes and cages with some antibacterial dish soap. Get a separate brush than the one you use for your human toilets.

  8. No, because the wash does not remove 100% of the germs.  I would throw that rag away and get a new one.

  9. no i would throw it away!

  10. ewwwwww what the h**l y don't u keep it and use it 4 the litter box again.

  11. I have an old ugly yellow towel that I ripped up into rags, that is what I use on my animal cages and messes, and then I wash them and when they come out of the wash I know which ones they are, I would find it gross to use on household items, even after going through the wash!

  12. maybe if you boil washed it or soaked it in bleach-I use kitchen roll or disposable wipes as I think it is more hygenic

  13. i would keep some rags for your litter and some for you. it is groose
