  1. There is no scriptural reason for us not to acknowledge or receive acknowledgment for a work-related anniversary. As already mentioned, there are no pagan, false religious or nationalistic connections with such a celebration.  We don't know what this person's personal preferences are....is she allergic to flowers? Would she prefer a gift card to a local store? Flowers are almost always a nice gift.

I think it's very nice you'd like to commend her for her 40 years of hard work with the company.

  2. Well, there's nothing wrong with congratulating someone for their hard work. Ecclesiates 3:13 reminds us that seeing the benefits from hard work is a gift from God.

  3. Yes, as long as the receiving person has no objection to it.

  4. yes... we celebrate anniversaries just not holidays... like christmas, easter, etc...

  5. Yes, I'm sure that would be appreciated. The only celebrations JW's are scripturally obligated to stay away from are ones that have a basis or background of spiritism or such things as pagan origins. Pagans worshiped false gods. True Christians have no part in celebrations which background is Pagan or demonic.

  6. As far as I know it's ok.  They don't celebrate events that have a pagan, nationalistic or other-religious roots.  And they don't celebrate events that are mentioned in the Bible alongside bad events.  Hence, no birthdays, Easter, Valentine's, Christmas and so on.  However, they do celebrate things like Wedding Anniversaries.

Other types of celebrations, they will look at it and consider the elements and circumstances of the celebration.

Why don't you ask the JW?  She would be pleased (I think) that you would be willing to consider her religious beliefs and needs.  Perhaps it's ok as far as the religion is concerned, but maybe he/she personally does not like flowers.  And she may not like being singled out as an example.

  7. When I was a witness we always celebrated our Wedding Anniversary. A work anniversary would be fine as there's no biblical reason not to celebrate it(unlike other holidays-which witnesses believe there ARE reasons to avoid celebrating.) Hope that helps.

  8. As for the comment above. Nonsense. We do to celebrate things !  :o)

You say "a work related anniversary", meaning ?

  9. Of the JW's I have known, they don't celebrate anything and are not allowed to. Not even Birthdays. I think it would be inappropriate.
