I sleep propped up on like 4 pillows, I will be 25 weeks on Tuesday, it's the only way I can comfortably fall asleep.

  1. okay, if you are comf.! trust your instincts!

  2. Are you seeing an OB doctor?  Why are you already so miserable at 25 weeks?  It is abnormal to need to sleep propped on pillows at this stage--or any stage if you ask me.  Why would you think you can't sleep on your back if you are pregs?  I was never told not to sleep in any certain position that I can recall....but ask your OB

Remember to go for regular checkups, and tell your OB doctor any problems you are having.  There are plenty of books out there for you to read, if you can't afford to buy some, go to the library.  Best wishes to you and your little one!

  3. i would think so -- HUGS

  4. My OB told me to sleep however I was comfortable . . . that my body would wake me and tell me to move if something was not right.  I am at the point that I can only sleep on one side or the other as trying to be on my back makes me light headed.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!

  5. The trouble with sleeping on your back is the weight of the uterus on a major artery.  The weight can compress the artery which will reduce blood flow.  This cuts off a part of the nutrients and oxygen to the baby.

As you get bigger, the weight naturally increases which increases the risk of reduced blood flow.

To be safe, your side is best.  With the left side proven to provide the optimum blood flow and to also help keep the weight off your liver.

Believe me, I can relate.  I am a solid back sleeper.  With my first pregnancy, I thought I was going to die from lack of sleep.  My husband was like a helpful bull dog waking me up saying "You are on your back.  Roll over."

After about 3 weeks, I trained myself to sleep on my side.  Now with this pregnancy, it's just come naturally.

  6. So long as you are not laying flat on your back then there is no problem. Sleep whatever way is comfortable!

  7. I agree with the first poster. I slept however I wanted in all three of my pregnancies.

The baby will let you know if he/she doesn't like your position. They are so well padded and cushioned in there that they are perfectly safe even if you sleep on your back, stomach, etc.

  8. if you can sleep on your back the way you desribed than your probably fine, when you start loosing your breath than you need to change positions.or when bub starts kickin like crazy its probably loosin oxygen.
