Question:

Is it okay to sleep on your tummy?

I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and I keep waking up on my tummy. I know when you start to show, that it's not okay to sleep on your back or front. I'm just wondering that since I'm not big enough to show yet, that maybe the baby isn't big enough for me to harm it this way.

And just to clarify, it's not that I consciously sleep on my tummy, I just always wake up that way. Do you think that it will be a problem later, or do you think, that my body will just know to stay on the side?

  1. Yeah it's ok -- but trust me it will get uncomfortable for you after your belly grows but I slept on my tummy until I was about 7 months pregnant and my pregnancy and birth were ok ---- your baby will not be hurt trust me your baby is well protected!

  2. Dont worry about it! Your baby is well protected in there. Eventually it will get very uncomfortable to sleep on your belly because it will be big!  Soon you will just start sleeping another way because you wont have a choice, you'll feel awkward!

  3. yes, you can still sleep on your stomach. your baby is so well cushioned. trust me it will get to uncomfortable to sleep on your stomach before youd do any damage to the baby. however you can get sleep get it becuase soon enough your not going to be able to find any good sleeping positions

  4. I somehow always manage to end up on my tummy during the night even though i'm 7 months now and it's starting to get to where i am kind of on my side tummy lol.. The only thing that ever happens is sometimes he gets annoyed and starts kicking me really hard XP

  5. As long as its comfortable for you then go ahead. You cant hurt the baby by lying on your stomach.

  6. No, don't worry about it. I am 26 weeks and end up being somewhat on my belly, not flat on it, but my baby usually lets me know when I am on my belly because he will kick me really hard to tell me that he's not comfortable that way. But you can sleep on your belly if you'd like, but once you get further along it won't be that comfortable. I would just try and stay off your back. Sleeping on your left side is the best possible way to sleep.
