I just turned 16 and I already have a permit, but I haven't been behind the wheel yet. The course is at least $500 and I decided to wait until I get a job and earn enough to pay for it. Meanwhile, is it okay to start practice with the guidance of a parent?

  1. Heck when I was in school they didn't have driver ed and I passed the first time. Can anyone do anything for themselves any more<

  2. It's okay, but taking a drivers course gives you the fundamentals of driving correctly.  The course is $500 but its well worth the money. The lessons could keep you from a cost much more than that.  And if anyone asks, yes I took a drivers course when I was 17.

  3. No, you need a third party that completely knows what is going and will tell you everything that you do wrong...

  4. Before I got my permit or took driver's ed, my parents always let me drive around a little bit so that I would get practice and not be completely clueless. So I would say go for it; it can't hurt anything.
