Question:

Is it okay to start hating Tiger Woods now? Is he hurting golf?

He is too good, and I believe all the other players are intimidated by him, his wins, and the press which continuously salivates over him to play decently when he is in a tournament.

Now with his most recent victory in match play, I believe that men's professional Golf has become too predictable. Isn't anyone else sick of seeing him win and dominating? I would think that this might start to hurt golf in terms of excitement and viewership compared to when he first started.

Come on already! Somebody please beat him.

  1. I remember when those Pats were unbeatable too.

  2. So what you are saying is that you want golf to return to the levels of mediocrity that it was before tiger? I dont know about you , but when I compete, I want to beat the best, not some hack

  3. Ill bring tiger down to his knees. Dont you worry about that. You people over there in America better stop looking at him as a god because hes not. He thinks he is... you guys think he is... but no. He is a mere mortal and have been proven beatable. The one whos going to beat tiger is the one who treats tiger as just another golfer and with no respect. The media patronises him because he is entertainment and he is their cash cow. Who do I think will be capable of such a thing? Anybody on tour that is more hungry for some tiger flesh can do the job. And please... no chokers like Mr. Sergio.

  4. I like the answer that comapares Tiger to Jack Nicholson.

  5. I am not a fan of his because of his ego and personallity. I am a fan of his swing so I watch him. He has the best form of any player and is naturally more athletic than most PGA players. He is not as likeable as Jack Nicholson but he is amazing when it comes down to a clutch shot. He has raised the bar for talent in the PGA and that is a good thing .There will soon be another golfer that puts Tiger to shame, but as of right now , he is the best ever.

Plus his wife is pretty hot!

  6. Give the guy credit. Tiger represents a change from everything we hate about other athletes. He is clean, respectable and hardworking (and appears to be a great husband and father). He has managed to do what nearly all other athletes have failed to do, live up to our expectations.

Golf certainly isn't predictable. Tiger is on a hot streak and good for him. Do you ever wonder why people watch Bond films or read Superman comics? We like it when the hero wins, as long as he does with class.

I love when people sit on the sidelines and challenge Tiger on his ethics. If he were truly as bad as everyone who doesn't play golf says, the other players would be echoing the same sentiment.

As far as hurting golf, that's just silly. A dynasty is good for business. Should Tiger retire right now, the PGA would be in trouble.

Try to enjoy Tiger now. I'm not sure he'll be playing golf in ten years and life without Tiger will be tragic.

    Cheers.

  7. I think you answered your own question... all its going to take is for someone to beat him. When Greg Norman was the number one golfer in the world, he wasn't very popular either (made worse to most Americans by the fact that he was an Aussie).

What will need to happen is that some fresh blood is required, someone who doesn't have that "TW" mental block that everyone else seems to have.

Ben Hogan, Harry Vardon, Bobby Jones, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson ... all of these guys at one stage or another were unbeatable. Now that the bar and standard has been set, someone will have to come along and raise it. It doesn't help that most courses have tried to "Tiger Proof" themselves, taking the game away from the shot makers like Corey Pavin, Fred Funk, and all the other golfers who can't hit 350 yard drives. They are guilty of causing the game to be played by power players - which is ironic, because Tiger is one of the best power players in the world.

  8. I give the guy all the credit he deserves. He's got more money than he'll ever need and could retire if he wanted to, yet he still goes out and gives 100% every time he tees it up. That's more than I can say about a lot of professional prima donnas in other sports including golf who are just out there to earn a paycheck. He's great for the game because it means everyone else is going to have to play at the top of their game to even compete in a tournament with him.

  9. Not a golf fan, but as much as I hate to tell you this: Tiger isn't going away any time soon. Therefore, you should get used to him being the most dominant golfer & the odds-on favorite anytime he's in an event.

  10. Well, if you don't like how Tiger dominates golf, maybe you should take a break from watching it for the next 10 years or so.  I sure there are plenty of people like you who are "sick" of seeing him win, but "oh well", it is what it is.  Tiger is never going to let up, no matter how much he wins or what margins he wins by, he will NEVER let up.  In all fairness to the other players though, Tiger was almost eliminated this weekend by JB and Badds, and those were very exciting matches for me to watch.  But I kinda knew that Tiger would smoke Cink in the final (and luckily I put some money on it even though Tiger was a 5 to 1 favorite).  Tiger is only going to better and better, and while the other players may also be working hard and getting better as well, they won't close the gap anytime soon.  The player or players to take down Tiger may only be in grade school right now.  Either accept it or stop watching.  I doubt most people would stop watching.  Maybe when Tiger completes the Grand Slam, holds 18 plus majors, wins 82 plus tournaments, and break Nelson's streak of 11 in a row; when there is nothing left for Tiger to achieve, then maybe, just maybe, people will lose some interest.

  11. Tiger is getting better every year!

    Tiger!Tiger!Tiger!

  12. He will be a legend for a very long time.

  13. If your one to just want to knock a winner off his throne likely you haven't ever been there. It takes Years to be good at most sports and a lifetime of total dedication to be as good as your  Ernie Els type player who routinely comes in the top ten but loses to Tiger more often then not. Thats what it takes to be Great like Ernie. Now when you speak of Tiger, you need to remember that hes not only great but far better then a master golfer like Ernie Els. This puts him in a class by himself. Hes amazing to watch on TV but if you can ever see him hit the ball live on the course you will flat out **it your pants. He plays it cool when hes loosing, winning or even not making the cut and it has been quite a while. He could start a Tiger tour and  send the PGA into bankruptcy with the tip of the hat, but hes not out there to make money. Hes out there to win against his peers and win he does, far more consistantly then anyone ever has. There are VERY few sports you can actually say " soandso was the greatest ever" and have no argument. Your just lucky it happened in your lifetime because you will be telling your grandkids about Tiger and you wont be using this tone when you do.

  14. Don't worry, dude, Tiger has only about 10 years of prime golf left in him.  Just 10 more years and then professional golf can go back to being the boring collisions between mediocre golfers.

  15. around every ten years there is a great player that comes along, it's TIGER'S turn. he is great for golf. he will most likely go down as the greatest golfer of all times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
