I've done this for maybe 2 weeks, and I feel that my arms have shrunk a little bit.

  1. It really depends. If you are trying to build muscle mass, and you are lifting everyday, the best way is to only work your upper body every other day, and on the off days you aren't working your upper body, work your lower body.

So the whole idea with swimming the day after you are doing upper body excercises may not be the best of ideas.

Perhaps try swimming on the same days that you work your upper body, but take it easy, or even, use it as a warm up, to get the blood flowing, that will help with muscle development a substantial amount.

  2. YES !!

  3. yes, while swimming is exercise, if you take it slow its a great way to stretch sore muscles and tone your body. i wouldn't suggest trying to swim upstream the day after an upper body work out. but doing laps in a pool (dont over exert your self!) is really good

  4. Yes, I do it every week in the winter time. I swim yearlong on a competitive team and we all do this. You might be kinda sore when you get in though.
