Is it okay to switch to a different orthodontist due to moving?

i have started my treatment like 10 month ago,i paid alittle bit more than half the whole amount and it's just on the top,i didn't make alot of progress i didn't even start wearing the braces itself just some metal parts on the sides to move the teeth to the back of the jaw ,looks like it's gunna be a long way and i got a job offer in a different city,i was wondering if it's okay to switch to a different orthodontist near my new place and will i've to pay the current ortho the rest of the money and how much will the new ortho ask for?

  1. You need to speak with your current orthodontist. They may be able to refer you to a new orthodontist. Cost would be determined by the new orthodontist. They have a set price and it may not matter that you have paid a different one more than half. Possibly the previous could refund some of your money.


  2. it should be fine.

    Call your old orthodontist and explain that because your moving it would be more convienant to switch practises. Even ask if he/she can recommend someone to you.

    They transfer notes etc to your new orthodontist and they generally transfer the funds aswell. Sometimes the new orthodontist will be happy for you to pay what you were qouted. Then your not paying double the amount.
