  1. No it is not OK unless it is prescribed as a specific therapy by a physician.  It is a metabolic of Salicylic Acid.  Excess of Salicylic Acid could become cause for many maladies which you will not cherish.

  2. It depends on what is regular!

People who need to thin the blood because of heart probelms take an extremely small dose every day.

It can cause intestinal bleeding and many people are allergic to it.

If there is a reason for you taking it regularly for example regular pain, then the pain needs to be addressed by a medical proffessional.

  3. I think only one child dose aspirin,

  4. i guess

  5. Though the comments about increased likelihood of bleeding are correct, it depends on how much aspirin you're taking, your body chemistry, and other factors.

I guess I interpreted your question in a different way than the others. There should be a reason for taking aspirin, of course. But if you mean for the periodic headaches, or aches and pains, then there's relatively little risk. And remember that doctors recommend that older folks take a baby aspirin daily to reduce the likelihood of a heart attack. It's the same mechanism that can lead to bleeding. In non-technical terms, aspirin makes your blood slighly "slipperier" so it's less likely to clot and lead to a heart attack, but also could lead to bleeding issues.

If you have any reason for concern, check with your doctor. But used as it's recommended, it's very safe.

  6. Ask my mother, it can really tear up your stomach to take asprin on a daily basis for pain.

(Unless of course it's perscribed by your doctor in a low dose to help your heart.  The smaller dose doesn't do much damage & the benefits outweigh the risks)

If it's pain you're suffering from, try some alternative treatments that don't include swallowing something.  Physical therapy, massage, and other things like that may help.

If you try another pain medication be on alert.  Ibuprofin (Advil) can cause just as much (or more) damage to your stomach when taken for a long period.  Acetemetaphin (Tylenol) doesn't seem to cause as much stomach problems if any.

    Good Luck!

  7. Yes small dosage, good for your heart. Bigger doses bad for your stomach etc.

  8. Unless it is prescibed by a doctor, there is little reason to.

There is risk of gastric/intestinal bleeding, which is why it should be ordered and monitored by a doctor.

House guy: yes, I agree. I interpreted the question as being in regard to daily use for blood thinning/ anti-inflammatory use.
