Is it okay to transport kerosene lamps carefully packed and secured in a car with a bit of kersone remaining?

Don't have much time before moving and pouring out kerosene would mean toxic waste disposal, which will be hard to do. There isn't that much fuel left in bottom of lamps; what harm is there in driving these in air-conditioned car, if safely wrapped in plastic and secured against breakage or spillage? Thanks for any advice!

  1. You will be fine but leave a window slightly down just to remove the flumes....

  2. I doubt that you'd have any problem with the conditions you've described. But to be perfectly safe pour that small amount of kerosene out into a small bowl and burn it. Only takes a couple of minutes and then there's absolutely no danger of a fire enroute.

  3. It could be done but with caution.  As you say, securely packed is the key.  I wouldn't put them in the car though, put them in the trunk.  If you were in a wreck that could be a problem.  Kerosene is not nearly as flammable as gasoline or lighter fluid but its flammable nevertheless.

  4. You could.. but if one does spell kerosene, you may wish you had taken the time to empty them as the smell will last almost forever.

  5. You should be just fine, just don't spill any in your car, boy it smells forever.

  6. Pour all the kerosene in an empty plastic container (could be used soda bottle, laundry detergent, etc) and bring it to your nearest car shop. They have bins that disposes these kind of stuff. Thanks for thinking about the environment.

  7. Fumes  from  low  levels   of   any  combustible  are  more  volatile  and  dangerous  than  a  full   container .

Just  make  sure   you  are  NOT  in  any  fender  benders ,

As  they  could  easily   explode .
