Question:

Is it okay to trim my baby's hair?

My daughter is nine months old and has a shag that hangs over her eyes. The sides and the back of her head have short hair, to the scalp still. The top of her head has hair that only goes foward no matter what I do, and it hangs down past her eyes. I notice that it aggravates her at times and it tickles her eyes quite often. What is your opinion...should I give it a little trim above the eyes?

  1. Of course its okay! Its not harming the baby so some little snips of hair would be fine =D

  2. yep - she needs to see at this age.

  3. Someone told me that you should never cut a babies hair that is under a year. Something about it messing up their hair for life. This was when she saw my 7 month old with a mohawk. It was so cute. He's 14 months now, and I am growing it out, and haven't seen any lasting side effects, and we did shave it again on the sides for a better looking mohawk. I wouldn't worry. Make her comfortable.

  4. Of course it's okay, why wouldn't it be?  Are you serious about this question?

  5. you can if you want to. my daughter lost all her hair except right up front and just a little on one side, everyone kept telling my to cut it off and that when the rest came in it would be uneven. i left it alone and it all was even. but if it is bothering her then do what you think is best

  6. Yes go for it-i've trimmed my sons hair twice as I really didn't want to pay a hairdresser for something that would take 2 seconds! try it either when she is distracted, asleep or when you have someone to help you or you'll struggle to do it!

  7. Even better, take her where you have your hair done and see if they'll do it as a courtesy to get her used to it.  Better that than waiting till they're two and FREAK OUT...  I took my son when he was just 14 months and now he loves going once a month to get his hair cut.
