  1. no

  2. Yes.

Mandala meditations, the visualizing of a symbol, has been used for years, as well as the visualizing of a quiet place has also been used for years.

Mandala's, beautiful place, Mantra's, items, symbols, all can be used for meditation...and in Shamanic Journeys, not only does a person meditate, but they used controlled visualization in order to open themselves to a vision. The most important part of meditation is the state of mind, and the way this is achieved can help shape that state of mind. Coming to a state of stillness, or emptiness, is just one way to meditate, but it isn't the only way...

  3. Yes, it is ok!  And it's also ok to just enjoy, or get the information they may give you, etc.

But in Buddhism, it is said, There must always be a part of you that has a different awareness of that even.

That it is like an ever free-flowing stream.  You must observe and then let it pass!

Cause' if you don't, it would be like trying to watch t.v. while pulling the plug out of the wall.

Everything that maintains it will be gone!  You're power supply.

Until you start all over again.

  4. Yes.  Whatever puts in a higher state of consciousness while meditating is fine.  What works for individuals varies, of course:  what works for one may not work for another.  Some people listen to soothing music or repeat a mantra.  Others visualize white light or a soaring eagle or a field of wild flowers.  Mediation is for YOUR benefit.  Do what works for you.

  5. Not usually.  The thing about meditating is to clear your mind and let the universe speak.  If you have different things running through your mind all it will do is distract you.

    Of course.
