i feel that the bandwagon of making people nicer than they deserve went ott with old PD. You marry the royal family and know the constraints of marrying the future king of england. you are a bit thick cos you are a nanny even though you went to the best public schools in the land and then given the most amazing opportunity to marry into royality - you then get bored have an eating disorder - have affairs, moan about how hard your life is - get a spin doctor, reinvent yourself - and then to make it worse and embarrass the country you represent you start seeing a muslim even though historically speaking a royal member who is Church of England to sleep with a muslim man isn't the best idea in the world (BTW - I'm muslim so don't start) you live it up and then get killed in a car crash the same week as mother theresa dies, a woman who spent her whole life helping others living in poverty but noone cares cos princess diana has died. is it me or was this wrong ????

  1. Not, you are not alone (far from it!).

In the hysteria that followed her death and funeral, I could not but help think of some of the lines from the song, "Don't cry for me, Argentina."

  2. As sad as it is, I have to side with you.  I felt sorry for Diana, but you have to know what you are getting into when you marry royalty and I don't believe she was anything else but a celebrity.  Look at her funeral for God's sake's.  It was full of Hollywood actor's and actress'.  I will say she was really good at being personable with "commoners" and humanizing the royal family, but anything else she did for charity was for a photo opt.

  3. It's a bit of both.

Diana was perhaps the best illustration of a living paradox.

She did do with great sincerity and humility a lot of good works, but she was human and so flawed like the rest of us.

Both aspects of her character were equally 'grand' and so she was news where ever she went and what ever she did.

It remains so after her death as both supporters and detractors try to assert the aspect of her character that they think represents the true Diana.

Of course both were essentially her so both are right and wrong as neither is the complete picture without the other. Sadly it seems Diana will never be allowed to rest

  4. Princess Diana was a saint and thanks to her a lot LESS children, wont end up with their legs blown off.

  5. Yes, it is only you.

  6. I completely agree with you & JuliaB.

  7. Princess DI was as thick as pig sh*t, she failed her O-levels twice (for non-Brits the O-level was the national exam taken in the UK at 16 until 1988 when they were replaced by the General Certificate in Secondary Education  - GCSE). She went o a finishing school but any other person with her qualifications would have not got very far. How her eldest son achieved a University degree I'll never know? he even got to University on the basis of his A-level results rather than who he is (unlike his father) and achieved a 2:1.

She has been given saint-like status in British memories despite the fact that she was an attention-seeking egotistical woman who used the press to her own advantage repeatedly.

I know many people will give me a thumbs down but I'm just telling like it was, not how people think it was.

  8. Diana was only a pretty woman with average intelligence and stuck in a position where she was treated horriblly by the family and loved by the people.  She tried the best she could to be a good mother and do good for other people.under the circumstances.  She was not perfect, but she wanted love and attention in her personal life and a marriage just like any other woman. She didn't get it, she died horribly

  9. No, I to was disterbed by the mass outpuring of greif thath came from Diana's Death.  The fact that if you really didn't care about it, you were deamed heartless. My family even criticized me for not watching the funeral. I'm sorry, but why should I watch a funeral for someone I never met, or had any effect on my life.

I also hated the reworking of Candle in the wind. A song written about Marilyn Monroe, another fallen icon, completely trampled on with new lyrics that seemed to be rewriten in five minutes, and didn't scan well when sung.

  10. The whole Diana industry is utterly absurd. She has been dead for a decade now, and really should be left alone to rest in peace.

  11. she was a well liked princess of England, who made a few mistakes, she also made a lot of people smile, gave England two heirs to the thrown(that's all that prince Charles and the Queen wanted) God only knows why the media build people up and then cant wait to bring them down, just to sell news papers, as for you your just looking for an easy target,

Diana cant answer back, but I can leave her alone let her lie in peace, and maybe God Mohamed or Allah will not judge you to hard

  12. i think its weird but when princess di died i think i actually felt something, i think she was special!

  13. The strumpet was far from a saint, she was The Household Cavalry bike

  14. I'm with you. I think the Diana thing lasted longer in the news than the O.J. Simpson trial did.  Big whup, leave her be.

  15. I couldn't think of a better description of the life of Diana than what you have just written.

  16. Hopefully, it's only you!!

  17. Beside being anorexic I do not know any other achievement of her.

  18. First of all you have a lot of nerve talking about the dead like that.

Princess Diana was a beautiful woman not only on the inside but the out as well. She helped a lot of less fortunate people and who are you to judge her because she was human.

And as far as Mother Theresa goes I seem to recall her getting just as much deserved attention as Diana on the news and television.

You were not inside Diana's life so you do not know what she was put through by her whole marriage{I was not there either so I also don't know} but I do not judge people for trying to live their life as best they can.

  19. Not the UK.  Only the Daily Mail.

  20. I agree with Dellow. She done nothing what so ever.

  21. No, it isn't only you.

While I realise how sad it was that she died so suddenly & so young I, like you, think that the whole thing is very OTT.

After 10 years they are still trying to place the blame on anyone ecxept the person really to blame. And that person is Diana herself. No-one forced her into a car, to be driven at speed, at night, through unfamiliar streets, by a man clearly under the influence of something. It was an accident waiting to happen. Time to let it go.

  22. You are cynical she was a lot more than you describe !

  23. yes your on your own

  24. You are right, they have.  I am not opposed to her being a saint BUT I am very opposed to making Camilla the devil.  It was a bad situation for all of them and they were all wrong, Di lied to Charles about her likes and dislikes (loving hunting & the country when she was a city girl at heart) , he should have never married her because he loved Camilla, Camilla should have tried harder to not have the affair.

  25. lay off of Diana.
