Is it only self hate when u don't prefer dark skinned women?

i notice when a guy says he prefer light skinned women he catches h**l from black women who accuses him of self hate. but when a guy says he prefer dark skinned women then its all love. has anyone else notice this?

Dark skinned woman...darker than, let's say...NIA Long....are not attractive. Period. If they have a pretty face, you can barely see it.

i get where your coming from. and i don't agree with that kind of thing.

I know a lot of people who prefer a certain skin tone when it comes to a significant other. and thats just fine... its not your fault thats what you're attracted to! When other people discriminate and call you "racist" because of it... thats not right.

Personally i prefer men with Dark features (hair and eyes) no specific skin tone... but dark features are just more appealing to me.. No one calls me racist against those with blue eyes though... and i feel that these are just opinion on what attracts you to someone.... i don't think it automatically means you're racist because you don't find that good looking.

who someone wants is who someone wants. the reason why us dark skin women get upset is because we've been discriminated against forever. and then for our own people to do it it's horrible. just because a black person is light, doesn't make them right or better. why would you divide us up like that. light and dark? we're all black, but some of us still operate under those jim crow laws. people who have a skin color preference in their own race(whether it be light or dark) need to get a life and wake up!

Which means all you are looking at is skin

yeah, in india light skin is considered good looking. And if you would actually want to marry someone with dark skin in india, you would be considered weird.

So if you do prefer light skin you are not the only one, I also think that people with light skin look better.

No, people are really uptight about this.

People CANNOT help what they are attracted to. And if you are attracted to lighter skinned females, is is NOT self hate mate. It's attraction, and it has nothing to do with how you see yourself.

Yes, it is  a double standard, but it's because dark skinned women are not viewed as being as attractive as light skinned women, therefore it's refreshing when people say they prefer a dark skin women. Just look, the media/entertainment embraces lighter skinned black women, and you hear men of other races saying that they think lighter black women look better (and subconsciously, they say this because they are closer to being white).

I do like to hear another dude say  he likes darker skinned black women, because it's nice to see someone embrace a true black woman, not because she's half something else or 1/4 something else.

edit: You can tell the woman above me is not black, because blacks do not even consider Nia Long to be dark. When non-blacks try to speak for blacks they look and sound ignorant.

Hummm I going to assume that your black, I have a white husband and I tell my friends all the time, they don't get mad but they do tease me. By light skinned are you reffing to white, a red-bone, high yellow... and by dark are you saying black, or hispanic color????

I think that we are just attracted to what we like.If it is a light skinned person we like that is just what catches our eye. If we like red sports cars then we tend to see them no matter what other attractive vehicle may be right beside it, I can't see the hate in that. I just don't think a woman black or otherwise wants to made feel like they are less because of their physical features when they know there is alot more to them. I hope that you do not totally dismiss a woman because of her skin tone beautiful women come in all shades of color from light to dark.

Yeah ... it's mostly because of colorism and insecurities ... some black women still have a lot of hatred or arrogance and they take it out on people of my complexion because of my " good hair " ( and others things I suppose you know ) so when a man ( let's say a white man for example ) says he prefers the darkest of darkest women it's all teeth and love and joy because they feel valued or " the darker the berry the sweeter the juice the darker the berry the sweeter the juice " lol ( as if other shades or ethnicities of women aren't good enough or are terribly sour ) ... but again it's some women and some men ... not all of them are like this ... in my opinion this whole scenario or topic is a circus and should just stop ... it's stupid ... I don't feel bad when a man prefers a very dark or the darkest shade but one thing I do not like is when people bash people of my complexion ( as if I created this mess or it's my fault ) when I really have nothing to do with this and they are the ones with the problem

It's self hate if you prefer this complexion over that one because that's all that matters ... even if she is nasty , unhealthy and obese you still like her ... different from preference and simply loving her shade with the whole package

People like what they like. Are you discriminating against all the other colors of the rainbow when you say your favorite color is blue? No!! Are you discriminating against all other types of food when you say your favorite kind of food is chinese? No!! Its the same thing relationship and partner-wise. The only time you begin to show true hate is when you say I only like light-skinned women and then start to act violently towards darken skin toned or other skin toned people of which you don't prefer.

I think that it is always okay to have a preference, everyone does, but when people get into the "I would never date a ..." that is where the issues come in for me. I really cannot stand to hear those sort of things, like the comment made by the rapper guy about "dark butts" it offensive and rude and that does show self hatred because most of the time it comes out of the mouth of a person who has a darker mom or dad or siblings. It is a shame that people limit themselves to a race or skin tone. so to summarize either way you look at it if that is the only reason any person won't date another is skin color it is ALWAYS going to be an issue that presents like self hate...

it shouldn't matter about what color the person is. There are many that feels a person should be with their own kind and get along with others. It has nothing to do with self hate. Such comes from within the person themselves.
