We are beginning to plan our wedding. We will be living in Illinois and most of my family lives in California and Arkansas. I am going to invite everyone, but I was wondering if it is our responsibility to pay for thier rooms if they decide to come? We really can't afford this. Just swinging the wedding (which are paying for ourselves) is gonna be tight. I wasn't really sure on the proper ettiquite of all this.

  1. No, you are holding a whopping great big party for them to attend.  They pay the flights / drive costs and the room rates.

  2. I understand your situation. My husband and I experienced like this before.

I suggest you to  disscuss to your parents both about the budget and financial situation. In that way they will help you both to explain the situation in a good way to your relatives.

Then..how if someone force to come?..prepare yourselves with the information about nice and reasonable homestay and tell them your plan in a nice way...and do not forget to say "We still want your blessing eventhough you can't to come to our wedding".

I wish you big luck for weeding day.

  3. No, they would be expecting to pay themselves.

I like the idea of asking other friends relatives to put them up for a few days though would be helpful

or see if any nearby hotels would do you a cheap deal???

    CONGRATS.

  4. no you need only pay for the wedding party I agree

  5. Only for the wedding party.

  6. No, but if they can't afford it, they might opt not to come and you should understand.

  7. no, not at all.  what you can do to help them out if finances are tight for them is see if there are friends or neighbours you know who might be able to put them up for a couple of nights.  But if they choose to come, then they will expect to pay for their own accommodation.

Congratulations, hope your wedding is everything you dreamed of and more!
