Question:

Is it permissable to kiss your husband while fasting?

My husband believes that this breaks your fast, but I remember reading a hadith where the prophet used to kiss his wife while he was fasting (sorry I don't remember the reference). Please tell me if what I read was wrong.

Thank you in advance, Salamu alaykum.

  1. Salam for tou my dear muslimah. Yes it is permissable to kiss your husband while fasting as long as without lust. For example kissing your husband is his forehead as a sign of love only when he is going to his office.

I agree with you that in hadits of Muhammad pbuh I read that he used to kiss his wife while fasting as a symbol that he gave respect and love to her..He treated Aisha his beautiful and young wife tenderly and he used to call her the red cheeks.(not her name)

  2. Rule of thumb I go by--if I have to quesiton it, then you probably shouldn't do it.

  3. I hope not!! lol

But I don't know...I wouldn't just incase, or just until you have the answer.

I'm sure a peck won't do any damage.

  4. It depends on whether the kiss is going to lead to involuntary gushing fluids, if you know what I mean. If you are not that excited by a kiss, it's probably OK but the common wisdom is to avoid the risk.

  5. The hadiths do say that, yes. Prophet would kiss his wives and be fasting.

The rule in Qur'an is to abstain from intimacy, sleeping with your wives during the fast.

A good rule to go by is..if you're not sure about something, find out.

    It's easy to look up

  6. If husband kisses his wife with fasting  like he does (just a peck on cheek) like he kisses to his child, fast doesn't break.

If he starts enjoying the kiss on her lips then fast certainly will break.

To be on safe side most Muslims wait until the night fall to go near their wives.  Breaking a fast has penalty of feeding 60 persons two meals a day  or one person two  meals a day for 60 days.

  7. It's pretty much all about whether you can control yourselves or not.

`Aishah (R) said :" The Prophet (S) would kiss and embrace [his wives] while he was fasting, for he had the most control of all of you over his desires" [Bukhari and Muslim]

  8. A kiss on the cheek is ok and won't break your fast.

  9. no

  10. glad I'm not your religion

  11. I read that too.

Narrated Hisham's father: 'Aisha(ra) said, "Allah's messenger(saw) used to kiss some of his wives while he was observing Saum (fast)," and then she smiled.

    - Sahih Al-Bukhari - Vo.3, Bk.30, H:1928

but i'm not sure if it works the same way the other way around.

    Salaam

  12. I'm under the impression no fluids can be swapped if you're going to kiss while fasting. So a peck is ok , but no tongue . Fasting isn't just abstaining from food , and we should be able to wait until the evening . Wa laikom salam.

  13. holy cow!  did hazel-eyes say a p****r wouldn't do any damage?
