Is it permissible to remove the innovators from the mosque?

There are people in our masjid in charge of adhaan, iqamah and khutbah. But they also do many innovations ‘bida’. We have advised them more than once, but they did not stop their innovations.

Should we remove them from the masjid by force?.

  1. Why don't you just put someone else in those places..

You wanna start forcibly removing people from the masjid, you're gonna make the religion impossible for everyone.

  2. There should be some kind of comittee in place at the mosque. Usually they meet and make these decisions and remove them.

But by force? How is this possible? Maybe they aren't taking your advice seriously first time, try again, inshaAllah.

  3. I see where you're coming from but we can't do that. Religion is between the individual and Allah (swt). We don't excommunicate in Islam. Besides, these people may actually think they are acting rightly. Try explaining to them again and be patient. All you can do is guide them. However, you may want to see about getting someone else to take care of athan and all that.

  4. Better ask them to prove what they doing is right in the light of the Quran and Sunnah. And if they yet continue being ignorant...well, I wouldn't say that u need to be tolerant with people who r trying to change the original deen.

It is not just 'between them and Allah'. It is the distortion of the original religion, which is gonna affect other ignorant people too. So, I wouldn't discourage the use of force, though many people here don't seem to appreciate this idea.

But then it might cause too much enmity between u two groups. That could become dangerous. So, consider the results first...

    Allah knows best.

  5. What did they say when you explained that it was bidah. You should have a meeting with them and some other knowledgeable Muslims who have some say in the Masjid and talk it over and find a solution.

Be sure to have your Quranic verses ready in your head or post-it noted in the book.

    Best wishes

    Peace

EDIT: Also I don't know what type of bidah you are speaking about but yes it is between them and Allah but when they are bringing it upon other Muslims and you as a Muslim notices it yes you should definately take action. But modest action first with the help of other knowledgeable people. And yes you can explain it to them but only Allah can guide them.

    peace

  6. lol

i am also against these old men, (innovators).

but u cant remove anyone by force, u should talk to them and explain to them that what they are doing is unislamic. If they dont listen then just avoid them.
