  1. NO that is sooooo rude!!!!!!!!!!!!they should NEVER do that!!!!

  2. no, it is not acceptable, although in the USA, in major metropolitan tourist areas, sometimes the menu or the folder in which the check is presented gives foreign travelers information about tipping customs...but the server himself/herself, should not be involved in giving you that information.

  3. no way - i'd talk to the manager if i were you

  4. nah..don't dothat just leave ur tip on the table or when he done serving just give ur tip and that is better, well our family does that giving the waiter a tip for a nice service!

  5. No!  Why would it be polite?  Don't do it!

  6. only if its restaurant policy or if youre a big party.

  7. no.

  8. No it isn't. I think it is very rude and shows he has a sense of entitlement. It is completely up to the customer how much to tip, IF at all. All waiters and waitresses should know that their job is a minimum wage job at worst and at best they make well over the minimum after tips. Restaurant owners are responsible for making sure their servers get paid minimum wage. Most servers are only paid $2-$3 per hour by the restaurant itself because they know the tips will make up the rest. So, don't ever let them make you feel guilty about making less than minimum wage.

  9. Oh y gosh no! If a waiter ever, ever did that I wouldn't tip him at all! A tip is bases on 10-15-20 percent of the bill, but if the waiter wasn't polite, that goes out. I wouldn't tip him at all, or at least not the proper amount.

  10. no, because that would be optional to you depending on ur mood or their 15% notice.

  11. No, report it to the restaurant captain!!

  12. No,I give 20% generally,if someone was pushy enough to write down the tip amount,I'd give less !

  13. No. Why should waiters be tipped anyway? Farmers are not tipped. Newsagents are not tipped. Staff in Supermarkets are not tipped. There are probably more people who don't get a tip than there are who do. It's an old fashioned custom. Restaurants adding a service charge is equally as bad.

  14. Everyone takes it differently. For me, it helps, because I cannot calculate tips well at all. For others, it feels like they're obligated to tip that amount, and that upsets them.

The worst I've found, is when a restaurant formulates their tip, into the Order Total. You are basically forced to pay their idea of a tip.

  15. No offcourse not you leave the amount of tip you want to leave.

  16. my friend said one time they went to red lobsters and the meal was 100.00 and the waiter asked for a tip and his mom said her's a tip brush your teeth

  17. No. That would be the same as telling a person exactly what they should give you for Christmas.

The thing with tipping is, at least here in California, the waiter will get taxed a certain percentage of you total bill regardless of what you tip. I think that it was something like 8%, but it may be 15%. I can't remember exactly. So when you are thinking about tipping someone, keep that in mind...

But no, unless it automatically generates when they print your ticket, they should not tell you what the appropriate tip is.

    :)
