  1. Apparently only if you are married to them.

  2. especially sense its none of your business

  3. I think it is, and I'm sure you don't have to remind them.

  4. it might  not be polite!!

  5. It depends on how close you are to the person. The closer you are the less it would be offensive. In addition it depends on how you bring up the weight issue and the words you use. People can differentiate quite quickly when somebody is either being mean to them because of their weight or being concerned about their weight. If they think that you are being plain mean to them they would give you a more negative response even if you are close. It is also important to note not to mention somebody's weight issues in front of other people even if you all are friends. It is best to talk to the person alone. This is because they might feel embarassed, resentful and hurt. Most importantly put yourself in their position. How would you want to be treated if you were the one with the weight problem?

  6. If they're a very, very close friend or close family member OK.  Otherwise, I wouldn't mention it.  Everybody has a mirror.  They know what they look like and don't need anybody to tell them they've gained weight.  Sometimes people eat because they're depressed and bringing up their weight gain could make their depression worse.
