  1. Depending on when your insurance benefits go into effect at the new job, you would not have a pre-existing condition even though you are pregnant. You could also check into Cobra benefits from your current job, but usually the premiums are higher because you would be paying the full premium. If you take a job that has medical benefits within 60 days of quitting a job, there should be no pre-existing conditions. If you went 61 days without being hired at job with benefits then the pre-existing condition would apply. You might also check with your state's welfare department to see if you would qualify for state medical assistant.

  2. If you quit you can continue insurance through cobra which is generally more expensive, but also is limited amount of time.  You can also try medicaid, not the best but they pay for everything and you pay nothing. (income must qualify)

  3. It is doubtful that you could quit your job and keep the health insurance from that job.  COBRA is for people who lose their jobs through no fault of their own, layoff or plant closing for example.

  4. You could check with the insurance you have with your work to see if you can pay an individual premium to keep it. Your right, most insurance companies will not cover it if you were pregnant before you got with them. I found an add in an american baby mag the other day that came to mind when I read this. It's called Maternity card and it provides benefits even if you are already pregnant. number is 1-800-568-7903. But I would definetly look into all of this before quitting! That would be alot of money to lose in your salary, plus if the insurance isn't has good I would consider just keeping that job for a few more months until after the baby is here. I know that is a super long drive though. Hope this helped and good luck!

  5. well I didn't have any medical insurance and my insurance agency said that they look at that as a pre-existing illness and that they don't cover it so I'd say that I'd at least  stick it out and keep the insurance it's worth it's weight in gold trust me!!
