  5. all I know is that you definitely get wetter under water.

    Every time.

  6. No, you would a) drown and b) your senses wouldn't be able to pick up on smell through the water.

    Good night xD

  10. UMMM NO!!!! HAHAHA dude umm isn't smelling breathing?? and can you breathe under water??? UHH NOPE... so no you can't ....

  11. Here's the thing.

Smell is driven my chemical reactions going on in your nose. So when you breathe through your nose underwater, yes you do smell because chemicals are coming in contact with those nerves.

The downside, the only thing your really going to "smell" is water - which by the way has very little to no smell (unless its bacteria infested, salt water, etc). Also, you'll be too concentrated on clearing out your throat and sinus's to worry about smelling.

But - after you've cleared out everything you should be able to smell the left-overs. I remember breathing through my nose at swim practice and being able to smell the chlorine in it for hours after.

So yes, you can technically smell, but I would not advise it.

  12. weather you are under water or not, you will smell.

  13. If your head is in a bubble.

  14. no you cant! in order to smell, tiny molecules in the AIR will trigger your sense of smell... if water passes over the tiny sensory buds in your nose it causes them to shut down instantly.. and besides by breathing in through your nose under water your lungs will fill with water and errrr you just might drown!!!

  15. It's impossible because you would get a nose full of water.

  16. you would suck in water. Maybe the little mermaid, but us human folk will have to avoid smelling the H20. Sorry

  17. For some animals such as sharks, yes.

  18. i dont think so

youd get a nosefull of water

and if you could itd probably smell like fish.. ew

  19. Is it possible to breath underwater with your nose? No. There's your answer.

  20. I don't think it's posible for a human to smell underwater, but fish can. Sent is passed through the water and is a major way animals like sharks hunt.

  21. Yes.  It smells like fish...

Actually I don't think you can.  You'd drown.

  22. With a full face mask you could smell--your own bad breath.  Other than that, I'd agree with the other posts.

  23. only if you have a snorkle lol maybe possibly lol

only if you want to drown and die lol

  24. if you breath in through your nose all you will get is water.

  25. I will disagree with just about everyone who responded.

The answer is definitely YES. My sense of smell is very active every time I go scuba diving. I usually get some amount of water in my nose when I dive. After a whlie the water dries, and what remains definitely has an aroma. It occasionally gets so bad I have to terminate my dive and clean out my nose with fresh water.

  26. no

  27. not for humans

  28. technically, yes

  29. not really. unless you can breath underwater.

    you cant smell w/o smelling.

you NEED to breath to smell.

unless its above water you can.

  30. No. But even if you could, you generally don't want to inhale while underwater, do you?

  31. i guess but i  never can!
