  1. it has been done but only for a fraction of a second.

  2. Only if you have no mass. however there is no one thing known in the universe that is faster than light.

  3. No.  Einstein's Special Relativity precludes this.

  4. as far as we know, no.

    And it's Einstein.

although thru quantum tunneling, particles can go to another location faster than light can travel between them, but the particles arent "traveling" as we normally think of it.

  5. Only if you are in reverse gear.

The real answer is no, but  there are many theories that suggest that it might, possibly, in certain limited circumstances using more energy than exists or can exist in the Universe be theoretically possible, but only if you have your fingers crossed.

  6. No it's not.

Unless of course you live in the city of 3000 and you extended the speed of light

  7. According to Albert Einstein it is not possible..for now-a-day's science it seems not possible but i dream also as your question and nothing is impossible in this world..i hope so ,man may some day travel in a shuttle if the world is not going to drag itself in another war...i hope the day will come in the dictionary and calender of science...

  8. Tachyons, if they exist, travel much faster than the speed of light.  Unfortunately, no one has positively proved their existence.  Tachyons cease to exist when slowed down below the speed of light.  For more info, see link:

  9. All of the world's top theoreticians say "no". I say, "not yet".

  10. Lorenzo, the answer is yes and no. To understand, you have to think outside the box and forget the world as you know it on earth.

The Theory of Relativity says that nothing can exceed the speed of light and that is true but ...

If you have an unlimited power supply and start flying an accelerating spaceship with an acceleration of one gravity (quite handy since it makes you feel like on earth) after half a century you will come close to the speed of light.

Relativity then says that your mass will increase to the infinite and you will never reach the speed of light.

But that is from the frame of space and time of the observer that is still on earth. He will observe you are slowing down, never reaching the speed of light.

But, in your spaceship, you won't notice anything and you will still accelerate for ever, far beyond what you calculated to be the speed of light. But, the point is: In your own frame of observation, you are not moving at all!

And that is the often forgotten principle of Relativity: There is no common frame of reference and simultaneity doesn't exist.

For the same reason, the universe expands with galaxies moving away from each other sometimes at speed exceeding the speed of light but it can't be observed because from any point in the universe, you observe it as if you were at its center and because space also expand at the same rate.

The universe doesn't have a center or an edge. This is why Hubble's red-shift observation is even all around us. We can't say where we are in the universe. That is why the Cosmic Microwave Background is coming from all directions. We observe the Big Bang not as a point in space but a sphere around us. Amazing, isn't it?

The speed of light is the constant that gives the relation between space and time. It cannot be exceeded because it cannot be measured to exceed.

  11. from what i've learned, nothing can go faster than light, infact if anything could, it would gradually begin to take on enormous amounts of mass, and that point it would be considered infinate in speed, and at this moment, light has been given that title.

  12. No, the speed of light is the ultimate speed that a body can travel with.

  13. How fast do you want to go?  Distance is time, Speed is man made.

  14. Yes.

Light is but an effect of creation. Light comes after the causes of creation. All 'light' across the EM spectrum is creation effects. Frequency holds more powre in it the higher it is.

It has already been proven that there is some forms of superluminal communications or effects involved with atoms and DNA. Consciousness as well....separated by distances with obstacles.

Einstein is old and outdated. He did not include the Higg's field all too well in anything he did. It has been strongly suggested that the Higg's field/ZPE is actually superluminal.

Dimensions can be used to surpass light speed. The talk of wormholes and blackhole physics are also precursor to superluminal speeds. Although to many, this is more science fiction than fact, some of us out there are not too sure it is science fiction anymore. It is more closer to reality than being fiction.

People holding on to old viewpoints...from long since dead scientists. There are greater view points from others nowadays...and even some ancient one's as well.

  15. I don't see why not, I think different types of light travel faster then other types of light, so there might be something that travels faster then the speed of any light (and I'm sorry, but I really have no grasp on einsteins theory, and his proofs).  One major problem with discovering this is: you would not be able to see anything that travels faster then the speed of light, because the light would not travel fast enough to keep up with it, so you would need some kind of device to monitor the speed of whatever this object or matter is.  I beleive there are theories about this question that involve wormholes and/or blackholes.
