Ok, this will sound crazy.  I laughed at my husband when he told me, but it works.  Get a dry erase marker and scribble over the permanent marker with it.  Then it will just wipe off!  I actually had to do this last night when I mislabeled something and it came right off!

Try nail polish remover or a Mr. clean Eraser. The Mr. Clean is less likely to damage the plastic though.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

My daughter wrote on many things throughout our home with permanent marker and I was able to remove almost all of it with these things.  I was amazed, it did take quite a bit of scrubbing though I went through a few but it worked.

this will sound CRAZY but try hair spray.... it works on skin, so i think it would work on plastic!

Try non-acetone fingernail polish remover.

you could always try thinners on a cloth.
