  1. NO

  2. As I recall a 17 year old could enlist with parental permission, but I don't think any were sent into combat at that tender age. And there were those that lied about their age, no doubt. Anyway, anyone that served in the military has a DD-214, and it will list either the VN Service Medal or one of the several VN Campaign Medals if they were in VN.

There were Marines in the Embassy up until the bailout in 1975, so, unlikely as it may be, the 52 year old may have been a Marine Guard at the Embassy.

  3. no its not

he would have been 17 when U.S. pulled out

  4. He could have only been there for the pullout unless he lied about his age to serve.

  5. Although the war ended in April 30, 1975 the US withdrew out of Vietnam in 1973 under terms of the Paris Peace Accords. It is impossible for him to serve in Vietnam. That was the end of the war for the US. I don't think they would send anymore troops to Vietnam. The Paris Peace Accords signed between the US, North and South of Vietnam to end direct US military involvement in January 1973.

He either lied about his age or lied that he served in Vietnam.

I met a guy couple years ago who did the same thing. He was in the Marine and stationed in Ðà Nẵng and that was true because I saw his picture. However, he told me he was only 49 (at the time I met him in 2005) and was in Vietnam during Tết offensive when he was 18. I did the math and found out he couldn't be 49 if he was 18 in 1968. Could it be the same guy? :-)

  6. No, illogical!

  7. yes. The Vietnam war end 1975. It is 33 years from now. If that person 52 year. He served in VN when he was 18 or 19 year old
