Depends on what size boat you have in mind.

Kayaking from Australia to New Zealand takes 2 months. I would recommend taking a boat with some sort of motor though, as that will probably make the trip much quicker.

yep it is definately possible,theres a couple of options,you can get on board a container ship that takes passengers,which is mildly espensive at around $170 a day, the other option is boarding a cruise ship prices vary greatly with this option but you can find out more info and prices if you visit a travel agent,the usual sail time in a large vessel is just over a week to reach auckland port
