Question:

Is it possible I've sprained my FOOT (rather than ankle)?

I tried to go down a skate ramp on my brother's skateboard and I fell off and landed on my left foot at a strange angle. It went numb as soon as it happened.

It was really painful at the time, and I could barely limp home. I woke up this morning and it's only a tiny bit swollen, no bruising and it doesn't hurt as much as yesterday (or I'm just used to the pain?) It's a sharp pain in the ball of my foot.

I can move my toes but it hurts to move them and it hurts to put any weight on the ball of my foot so I have to limp.

Is this just a sprain? Is it even possible to sprain your foot (the ball of your foot)? I've only ever heard of someone spraining their ankle and my ankle's fine... I can move it without any pain at all.

Could this possibly be a break or have I just sprained my foot? It doesn't seem painful enough to be broken.

Thanks for reading. x

  1. Did you feel a really hot burning sensation right after it happened? If so it is sprained!!

  2. well there are muscles on the top of your foot, and what can sometimes happen is you call strain them, and it can become very painful. This happened too me, and all you really need, if this has happened to you is to rest it for a few weeks

  3. It doesn't have to be very painful to be broken, my boyfriend broke his ankle a couple of years ago when his motorbike fell on it. He said it wasnt broken because it wasnt that sore, just bruised he said. Four days later a friend sent him to hospital and it was broken. Might be worth a visit to the doctor or your local A&E if you are really worried.
