I live in Germany, and was in the US for 3 weeks with a 6 and 7 hour time difference while in Chicago and then Washington, DC.

I can not sleep since getting home for more than 3 hours during the night, and I have such a busy rest of the week. I do not want to take sleeping pills, but need another way to cope with the lack of sleep.

  1. There are a couple ways you can approach this problem...

The first is to excercise a good amount during the day so that when you go to try and sleep (a little earlier than normal) your boby will be more apt to try and fall asleep.

Another way is to go to a spa where (some) have machines that simulate sleep and can create the feeling of 8 hours of sleep in as little as 20-30 minutes.

I believe that the best is to just give it a couple of days going to bed at the same time every night. Just wait, you will reaclimate to your time-zone

  3. that is not jet leg its exhaustion.

  4. best way to deal with jey lag is to just get back on a normal schedule and keep doing it. itll go away.

I always found lots of alcohol helped me to get over it when i came back to the US after 15 months in Iraq both times.

  5. How many days have you been home for?  They say to give yourself approximately 1 day, for each hour time change.  That means on average it would take a person 7 days to re-adjust between Chicago and Germany.  Get up and go to bed at the same time every night, and soon enough you will get back on track.  Like someone else said, it could also partly be exhaustion.

  6. Turn off all the lights when you sleep so it's really nice and dark.

Hop into bed and just lie there

Eventually you'll get back into it
