Is it possible a 25 year old to become a commercial air pilot in 5 years time?

Hi, I am 25 years of age and my understanding is that most major airlines have a cut-off point at the age of 30yrs. I didn't do physics in school and I have a Bachelor of Arts degree rather than BA in Applied Science.

Starting from my position, what should I do to efficiently fast track my way to becoming an commercial air pilot?

you can try and get a cadetship with an airline, you can try BA or easyjet for starters.

I'm not sure what country you are in or what airlines you are talking about, but in the United States, there is no such maximum age stipulation.  In fact, it is rare to see somebody under 30 flying for a major airline.

I wouldn't necessarily take a "fast track" approach just because of your age.  Many fast track programs take advantage of how many young people will pay any price to fly a shiny jet as soon as possible.  You already have a college degree, and I'd assume college debt.  You don't need to tack on another $70,000 in debt for an 18 month fast track program that will possibly land you a job at a regional airline and take at least 5 years before you see $50,000 a year.  A fast track program means quitting your job and applying yourself full time to flight training, so not only are there these extreme costs, you aren't making an income either.

There are other options.  You can shop around for flight instructors at your local airport.  A good instructor is priceless (although the price attached will be less than fast track programs).  Some community colleges have flight programs as well.  A lot of people will tell you military, but that's not as easy as it sounds.  You have to be selected for a flight slot, not just be interested in it.

The easiest way to do it is by going to a local flight school that is certified part 141 by the FAA. This will help you get the kind of credentials you need. Do not join a flight university since their programs are much more expensive and frankly very convoluted. It is best to get a rating at a time. Private, instrument commercial certified flight instructor, and ATP which is like he doctorate in aviation. That is the rating you need. Now, age is no issue since you're only 25 and assume you re healthy. Your education is not relevant since the majority of what the airlines need is experience in the flight deck and not ground school. By the time you have 250 hrs, you can be a commercial pilot and get hired. 5 years sure, not a problem, plenty of time. Get a student loan, and do it.

although most commercial air pilots are from the military because the costs of training and required flight hours are QUITE steep on the bank.

You don't need to have taken any physics.

A BS degree is not favored.

Most commercial pilots were not trained in the military.

Most air carrier pilots were not trained in the military.

To fast-track:

Pass written examinations before the respective flight training.  Schedule frequent lessons.

Instruct.

Stay accident-free.

Stay well informed on aviation accident history.

Step #1...get a private pilot's license.

Step #2...take some courses from a recognised school in critical skills for being a pilot.

Step #3(a)...try to join the military as a pilot candidate...although you won't likely be too succesful based on the BA and lack of appropriate courses in HS...sorry (late father was a recruiter for the CF, and Officer Candidates require a diploma heavy on sciences)

Step #3(b)...get LOTS of airtime with your license and take a job with a smaller regional company while you try to attain Multi Engine Jet license.

While I'm all for dreams, unfortunately, I don't really see how you can make it to a Commercial Pilot for a major carrier in 5 years.

American Airlines really needs Pilots and in as little as 500 hours multi certification and battery of tests you will be flying right seat. Get your turbo prop and regional jet simulator experence and applie for a job.
