... to become a dead language or will it continue to be a useful language and grow?

  1. Everything's possible... but I don't think it will happen soon. French is today spoken around the world by 65 to 80 million people as a native language, and by about 190 to 200 million people as a second or third language, with significant speakers in 54 countries. Most native speakers of the language live in France, where the language originated. The rest live in Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Francophone Africa, Luxembourg, Monaco, and in the United States.


  2. French is more and more spoken in african countries which need a common language.

    So l think it will continue to be a useful language and grow.

    French is  chosen rather than English because it's the official language in several countries and in Mahgreb (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) 60% of the population speak French fluently.

  3. The only way it would become dead is if there are NO MORE French people. If you do your research, there are a lot of Frenchmans in New Orleans who speak that language as well as Creole, which is derived from French. Actually it's spoken A LOT here in the South.
