Is it possible for Server Administrators to see the contents of my hardrive?

Okay so I go to a school where we use laptops. Now they are strict on no games and music. They say they can scan our computers and we disagree.

So the question I am asking is...Can when we are connected to our network, can they see Applications installed and our documents?

Yes they can see what programs/applications you have...

They can even, if they wanted to, see what your doing real time on your computer...

if its a school issued laptop most likely yes, if not I don't think so however if its your computer then they installed something like school required utilities maybe, I would just install firewall and have it on the highest setting, and every application that going out of your pc must be allowed by me.
