  1. Right now, it is impossible for a Westerner to enter North Korea. The joint tourism project between South and North Korea is under fire right now, because a South Korean tourist was killed for, as of now, contradicting reasons, and the North Korean government keeps changing the scenario. Even before this incident, no Westerner has gotten passed the DMZ. Security is ever more tight.

My advice: Wait a few more years, when North Korea becomes more open.

  2. It is possible to get in, but chances are slim. There is an agency based in Beijing which is specialised in tours to North Korea. (Will try find the site)

There are restrictions, eg if you have been to certain countries it would be an instant NO.

You also have to get yourself to Beijing before finding out whether you have a visa for North Korea.

I too agree it would be an awesome experience, I have been to the DMZ and have wanted to go to the north ever since.

  3. Another thing to think of is that if you do manage to get into the country, people are automatically going to think you are an American so that alone might give you reason enough not to go.  AKA North Korea HATES America, for obviouse reasons.  It would could be dangerous for you if you do go.

  4. like both of them said tyler you have to apply for a visa, chances on getting one aren't very good and i really wouldn't go to north korea if i was you, why not mexico or spain?

  5. It IS possible; however, you have to APPLY for a VISA, and, as the guy above said, the chances are VERY VERY slim. Plus, if you DO get in, you will be guarded very strictly 24/7 by military officials. If you do ONE tiny thing that encourages freedom from communism or anything that offends their ultimate leader, Kim Jung Il. You WILL be punished. So instead of going to North Korea and suffering all that c**p, why not take a vacation in SOUTH Korea (two amusement parks that rank TOP 10 worldwide) or even China.

    Hope I helped.

  6. Chances are going to be tough. First of all you need VISA. The north korean guards are going to keep an eye on you for a bit, plus they are 24/7 guards on duty. Good luck and be safe.

EDIT: Logan D is right, a south korean woman went to travel to North Korea and she got shot.  Now North Korea's blaming South Korea for it.

  7. Yes it's very easy, even for an American.  You have to meet up with a travel agency in South Korea.  I'm talking about the Mt. Gumgang.

  8. I've read a lot on the subject.  It seems most agree that your best chance is through a travel agency in China.  They seem to have the best luck getting visas for their clients.

  9. No. You will need to apply for a VISA. Chances are very very slim.
