Is it possible for a TV to lose HD?

Had perfect HD picture with cable box and suddenly the TV displayed a message that the TV was not HD compatible.

  1. You cant lose HD, but you can s***w up the cabling


  2. HD is HD, The only possible thing that could happen just like any other non-CRT the screen quality will fade over time.

    However, if you do something stupid, like put a magnet near it, or do anything really stupid to it, than yes you may lose some HD.

    Could also be s**ewed up cabling, the TV over-heating or copy protection issues.

  3. I would call your cable company.  This is just a guess but it sounds like copy protection.  Some hd-dvds won't allow you to display hd if you're using component video (or if your tv is a little older and doesn't have dcrm)

  4. not in so many words but a tv can decrease in picture quality if it is knocked around or is not able to cool
