The last 24 hours or so I feel like that has been my problem, I had one a few years ago with my second pregnancy and that is pretty much how I feel now, a little less severe possibly. I started drinking lots of water and prune juice and I think I'm feeling better, not 100% yet, but much much better. If it was an obstruction and not constipation could the prune juice have made a difference?

  1. be careful - if you have bowel issues/history since birth.  But some bowel obstructions will heal with bowel rest: meaning no food, liquids only. Sometimes IV hydration is necessary. Good luck. If pain is worse or no BM soon (or vomiting), call your doctor

  2. As you already know, a bowel obstruction is a very serious concern and one that is usually treated by surgery.  You probably had a case of constipation and with taking the prune juice you were able to clear your bowel.  How long ago did you have your last check up with your gastro-enterologist?  You may want to make an appointment to make sure that you are not partially obstructed if you continue having difficulties.   Your doctor may order a Lower GI or a colonoscopy if you haven't had one in a long while.   A word of advice, be careful with the prune juice.  It may be too harsh for your system.  Are you allowed to take fiber supplements like Metamusil etc?  Constipation can usually be treated with a combination of exercise, high fiber diet, and occasional use of appropriate meds.  I hope that you are feeling better and get back to your "normal" routine.
