Question:

Is it possible for a cable LINE or the digital cable box to cause bad color on a TV?

I ask because when I play a DVD or Wii the color is fine so I suspect the TV is okay, but I've never heard of a cable line/wire or the actual cable box to be the cause of color issues. I've already changed out the input/output sources for the box so that hook-up appears to be okay. Just wanted to be sure before I go switching boxes and cables across the house.

  1. Yes, those cables that connect the box and the television often go bad. You can get better and higher quality cables as well, but they go bad just as often.

Your dvd and wii are hooked up differently than your cable box, so that's why you are seeing the difference. Also, the actual hook up on your television could be going bad. Had that happen to me once as well. They can be replaced by a television repair person.

A cable box can also go badly. Most cable companies do not charge you extra to change out the box that you are renting. Take in the cords with it so they will give you new ones as well. If that doesn't solve the problem, than it's the tv connector. That's the thing that sticks out of the television that you twist the cable onto. Think it cost around 65 bucks to change that out.

    Good luck.

  2. Yes it is possible that the cables are faulty or old at that. It is also possible for the digital box itself to output a bad signal for various reason. I suggest calling the cable company so they can assist you.
