  1. yes

  2. No, for the same reasons surfers get towed in on large waves: the larger the wave, the quicker it moves.  If a wave was big enough to surf a cargo ship, it would be moving so quick that the ship would not be able to catch it.

  3. yes.. but if the bow pearls... Watch-out!!!

  4. I would have to say no.  The wave would have to be bigger than the tanker and a wave that big would be moving faster than the tanker so it would no be able to "pull into it."

  5. Not sure but if you have ever seen "Step into Liquid" there are these dudes in Texas that take boats out into the harbor and surf the huge wakes that come off the cargo ships heading into port.  It's an endless wave.  Pretty cool stuff.  Just goes to prove the point, if there are waves somebody will find a way to surf them.

Check out right at 1:51 in the linked video.

  6. I would say not likely. Even if the cargoship caught the wave, it would be near impossible for something of that size to be in control on a huge wave. The physics of something as massive as a cargoship wouldn't allow the ship to do anything other than go straight. Even then, the ship would most likely just pearl.
