one of my kittens got attacked by a dog and we know believe that he is blind but also think he might have narcolepsy...he tends to fall asleep almost instantly after you pet him or after he sits and he can sleep anywhere. also he falls asleep in the most uncomfortable positions. Is it possible he's narcoleptic? and could the accident he had have caused it?

  1. The attack may have affected his brain. The only way you will know is to have him examined by the vet.

  2. Our kitten didthus when she was younger. I think it's just akitten thing where they fight their sleep, much like babies do as they want to play.

She would be running around and then just stop and fall asleep instantly! I asked my vet and he felt it was nothing to worry about and just to keep aneye on it.

She doesn't do it any more

  3. So he wasn't anything like this before?

We have a 9mth old kitten who also falls asleep very quickly and in the most bizarre positions (i.e on his back with all four paws up straight in the air!) but if you feel like there is a problem you really should get it looked it.

You never know, it might be something as simple as a hormone imbalance (that makes him extremely tired) but unfortunately you just won't know unless you take him to the vets.

Yes it is quite expensive (blood tests alone are something like $130) but if you really feel there is a serious problem and you love your kitten, and are worried about him, you really don't have any other choice.

If you think that maybe it's just a passing thing, or isn't really too bad and is only giving you a little bit of worry, maybe hold off a few weeks and wait to see what happens.

But if you can afford a vet, I would strongly recommend you take him in ASAP :(

    Best of luck x
