My "nephew" looks nothing like his mum or his dad - or anyone else in either family. Is it possible for a child to look like nobody?

  1. yes, i have a brother who looks nothing like our family ( mom, dad, any of his siblings, grandparents and what have you) but we've been goign through old photo albums and found he does slightly resemble someone further down our family tree so maybe that's the case with your nephew

  2. yes its possible for example a friend of mine has natural red hair and both of her parents have natural black hair.

  3. Yup.

I know that one of my nephews actually looked like pictures of his grandparents as children (we eventually did find old black and whites and discovered this, before then we wondered what the heck was going on.)

Give him time.  He'll grow into more familial traits as he gets a bit older.

  4. If he got nothing but recessive genes, it's very possible. As he gets older he'll change more and probably start looking more like someone. My brother really looks alot different than my other brother, my sister and I.

  5. yes, of course it is!

  6. I look nothing like my family at all

everyone in my family has light hair and brown eyes and are generally short

I have dark brown to black hair, green eyes (which change from light green  to dark green to hazel with light) and I stand at almost 6 feet tall

    it's all in the genetics

  7. of course

  8. Yes, of course it is. Both I and my husband have brown hair, and my son is blond unlike anyone else we know in either family.

Plus "looks like" is subjective. Strangers have always said I look just like my mum. Neither of us can see any resemblance at all.
