I am a full time college student without kids and I have been granted work study from my college which is about 235 per month. I am curious to know if I would qualify for a low rent apt.

  1. Unfortunately, you would not.

There is a substantial waiting list for Section 8 housing.

Even single women with children have to wait, sometimes 2 years for a voucher.

  2. Sure. It depends on your credit history and background check.

However the wait might be long, since you are a single person.

  3. if you are an indepent student over the age of 23, and make less than 10,000 dollar last year.  You should qualify

  4. Even if you don't have kids, you can still qualify for a Hud/housing apt. Alot of places do have waiting lists, but if you have no place to go then you may be moved up on the list. There are alos different types of apts, just check around and see which ones has a shorter waiting list. Also you may find that you don't even have to wait because a 1 bedroom may not be in as much demand as a 2 or 3 bedroom. good luck
