    I think he's more likely to die of septicemia after everyone's had a go of pinning the tail on him.

  5. Donkeys, like horses, cannot regurgitate food. So problems like poisoning or stomach ache or too much food creating excess gas, which might be alleviated by vomiting in other animals, become life-threatening for these animals.  The bowels can get twisted due to the problem which blocks both the gas and all the food in the intestines which often leads to death. Quick medical treatment by a vet can often avert disaster but once the intestines are twisted, the likelihood of an easy (and cheap) fix are over.
