Is it possible for a house to catch fire from leaving a straightner on?

if a straightner is any thing like a curling iron, yes.  any thing electrical  has the potenial to cause a fire.

i set mine on a metal tray when i'm not using it right that second and for it to cool off, but mine shuts off after so long by itself. i usually remember to turn it off though.

Yes read your owners manual next time you buy one, There is something else in there about prego women too. Read it. It might happen to you!
