Question:

Is it possible for a lazy eye to go blind?

I'm 14 and i'm wondering if i don't do anything about my lazy eye right now will my vision in that eye worsen and eventually go blind?

I really don't want that to happen. My left eye is a lazy eye and so far i'm just doing a bit of patching, i've tried eyeglasses but it doesn't seem to be helping because of my age.

My eyes look normal. They don't cross or anything. But in the future do you think my lazy eye might cross or get worse?

Help please? Does anyone also have a lazy eye or know anything please let me know!

  1. The vision in the lazy eye will not get worse or go blind unless it gets a blinding eye disease.   The risk of a blinding eye disease is not greater for the lazy eye compared to the other eye.

If the eye doesn't turn in now it is unlikely to do so in the future.

  2. your vision should not get any worse, unless you have trauma or get an eye disease that causes blindness.

you need to be very careful if you play any contact sports to protect you good eye from and trauma.

  3. I'm thirteen, and I have a lazy eye too, but it's not sooo bad. It's just my left eye that's a little bit weaker and it drifts when I'm unfocused or staring at a screen espescially. It's gotten better with contacts, though...you might try those. And no, I think your lazy eye would have to be very severe to go blind...there's a tiny percentage of people like that in the country.
