Assuming that they wanted to start there own business and they had already been trained to handle investigations. Just asking because I am told there is no experience requirements for the the job, but most adds for jobs with agencies say they want an experienced investigator. So that is the reason i would just rather start my own business. Does anyone know if this is possible to do?? Thank you very much!!

  2. Yes there are plenty people out there dumb enough to request your services.

  3. Starting a business is easy. Getting clients is hard. You have to ask yourself how your resume stacks up against the competition. It's a hard, hard business to do successfully. First, you have no experience. (This is in terms of being effective. Training is just training and doesn't make you an investigator.) Second, you have no experience to cite to argue that you know what you're doing. Third, you have no contacts, either in the official agencies or in the clientelle, the attorneys and insurance companies. Really, you're just going to be frustrated.

Better to approach PI and security employers with your training and desire. They say they want experience, but then they have to say that, don't they, to keep every yahoo off the street walking in and wanting to apply. If you can convince them that your training was meaningful and that you're willing to work your butt off at all hours, you could well get a shot. The bread and butter is stuff like sitting for interminable hours in a car waiting to video the guy faking a back injury to carry his garbage out.
